FORTS FOLLE AVOINE HISTORICAL PARK
Step back in time at Forts Folle Avoine Historical Park. The entire family will enjoy this
National Register of Historic Places Site on the banks of the Yellow River. Featuring two
reconstructed fur trading posts and the Woodland Indian Village, The Forts is the only
site of its kind. With authentic restorations, re-enactments and world-class events, just
one afternoon spent here creates memories that will last a lifetime.
In 1969, this historic site of two 1800s fur trading posts was discovered just north of the
Village of Webster. What was quickly identified as a truly unique and special historical
discovery became Forts Folle Avoine. The Burnett County Historical Society was tasked
with the restoration and future management of the historic property, and has succeeded
in making The Forts a true destination for early Wisconsin and American history.
Open from May through September, and special events year-round, take advantage of
the opportunity to see and experience exhibits and displays celebrating Ojibwe heritage,
the history of the fur trade, an 1800s school house, a Quebec-style clay oven, logging
museum and blacksmith shop.
Known regionally for hosting incredible events, Forts Folle Avoince attracts massive
crowds for their annual Rendezvous, when several hundred historical re-enactors con-
verge to bring the 80-acre park to life in true 19th century fur trading form.
Visitors are encouraged to both watch and partici-
pate in tomahawk, knife and spear throwing, and ar-
chery contests. Find a treasure as you wander through
Trader’s Row. Join them also for Yellow River Echoes, a
living history of the fur trade experience, and also for
Christmas at The Forts festivities.
For a truly interactive historical experience your
family won’t soon forget, be sure to stop by The Forts.
